About

Leigh Davies is an award-winning music producer and creative technologist working across music, interaction, and public space. His practice is rooted in a music-first approach, developing original compositions alongside the systems and structures that allow people to physically engage with them. Through a combination of composition, systems design, and spatial implementation he creates interactive environments where audiences shape music through movement, curiosity, and play - taking dynamic non-linear music experiences beyond the pixel and outside of the screen.
His work sits within Ludic Music - a form of interactive work in which music is the primary medium, and audience interaction and engagement actively shapes musical outcomes in real time. These works position exploration, collaboration, and play as compositional forces, treating environments, objects, and behaviours as part of the musical system itself. Whether built with high-tech sensing systems or low-tech, handcrafted materials, the focus remains the same: music as a dynamic, non-linear system shaped through interaction, rather than a fixed output.
Leigh is also co-founder of pyka, an organisation focused on developing and deploying alternative platforms for music interaction across public, cultural, and commercial contexts.
