Always on the Main PathLeigh Davies
00:00 / 05:24

I was 4 years old when I moved to the Welsh valleys. I still remember my Dad deciding we should climb the steepest mountain near our house that afternoon, to get me and my sister out from under my Mam’s feet while she unpacked.

It was March, and it got dark a lot earlier than he expected. He was stuck halfway up a mountain in the dark with 2 small children. He must have been worried… but all I remember is him telling us silly stories, singing songs together, and him making us laugh. A few hours later, me and my sister were carried down the mountain by a policeman and a dog walker.

We walked that mountain many times with my dad over the years that followed, always on the main path and always in the light.
